This year IOM launched its first-ever Global Annual Appeal of USD 7.9 billion which ensures that it is able to continue responding to the needs of people on the move.
Under the three objectives "Saving Lives", "Driving Solutions to Displacement" and "Creating Regular Pathways for Migration", IOM has mapped its path to build a sustainable future.
We proudly took on this magnificent challenge of transforming such critical information and complex data into a design that is clear, engaging, and of course appealing – all in three weeks!
The world needs a comprehensive effort to realize the full promise of migration. The consequences of underfunded or partial, piecemeal assistance are too high to bear. We can and must do better.
Amy Pope, IOM Director General
We have crafted several maps for Global Appeal 2024 using GIS and integrated with infographics for detailed insights into key figures and funding needs.
We have designated three of IOM's secondary colors to correspond with the three objectives, using color-coded graphics throughout the report to ensure clear distinction and a more engaging reading experience.
Examining the structures and goals of the three objectives, we have created a unified design system featuring Objective Overview wheels and Objective Process diagrams.
Objective 1 serves its purpose of "saving lives and protecting people on the move" with four steps that revolve around crisis events. As shown by this diagram, priority after a crisis is to save and protect, gradually transitioning to support recovery.
In our experience organizations often have difficulty articulating their strategic structures. We have found these diagrams to be very helpful in explaining their activities to stakeholders.
Objective 2 focuses on "driving solution to displacement" which aims to reduce drivers of displacement by building resilience to crises. In the event of displacement, Objective 2 seeks solutions for migrants through return, relocation or local integration.
Objective 3's mission is "facilitating pathways for regular migration", collaborating with governments and migration officials to enhance, establish and expand regular pathways for migration. It assists migrants from pre-migration through inclusion along with possible sustainable reintegration or onward migration.
We have designed illustrations for each separator page carrying over the circular form of the objective wheels, reinforcing IOM's radial programming approach.
Together, we can save lives. Together, we can drive solutions. Together, we can make migration safe, regular, and orderly to benefit all.
Only if we work together and #ActToday.
